MSA(Modular Smart Array) HP-StorageWorks-2000 |
For the entry-level customers, HP StorageWorks 2000 has developed new, advanced and efficient 4-Gb fiber channel & iSCSI solutions storage array technology which matches with the SAS (serial attached SCSI) and SATA (serial ATA) drives. There are two host interfaces available for the HP StorageWorks 2000 are
1) Fiber Channel MSA2000fc
2) iSCSI MSA2000i
These provide perfect solution to the customers according to their individual needs. The user can also go for the archival-class SATA drives and the enterprise-class SAS drives. All these models support the Optional controller-based snapshot / clone functionality. MSA2000 provides the ultimate solution for smaller companies having few Information technology resources and expertise, small budgets. It can also assist the large companies who have smaller units or remote sites where an entry level Fiber Channel or
iSCSI SAN is most appropriate.
The MSA2000 family has dual-ported drives, redundant hardware components and active-active controllers. These features reduce the risk if there is an I.T failure. It is also compatible with hot plug components like the drives, power supplies, controllers and fans.
There is ample space to grow, because MSA2000 supports up to 3 drive enclosures and 48 drives. It has automatic failover hardware system which improves the performance and prevents the loss of time. It enhances the productivity and protects the data. It has RAID (Redundant Arrays of Inexpensive Disks) 0,1, 3, 5, 6, 10, 50.
The MSA2000 provides more security, convenience and ease; therefore, the operation time is also reduced. To protect the cache, there is no need for additional UPS. So, this saves the space, as it does not require special UPS for cache. It occupies area of 2U (rack space) and 12 (drive bays). The cache is protected by the standard with in the unit. If we add up more drives, then the additional drive will require 2U (rack space).
The HP MSA2000 uses the snapshot software which creates recovery points for the data. This technology makes the data more safe and secure. The software takes the picture of the data at the time of snapshot and is maintained. The benefit of snapshot software is that in case of failure, the data can be recovered from the maintained previous snapshots. By using this strategy, data can be made more safe and secure.
The StorageWorks 2000 also developed the MSA2000 Volume Copy software, which makes a physical copy of the data while the snapshot software takes the picture of the data.
These softwares provide advantage as it creates backup if failure occurs.
HP MSA2000 Volume Copy Software is controller based, and it does not require host resources.
